The Ideal School

Ideal School Foundation (ISF) serves as a network for pioneers of philosophy-based high schools. We are passionate about making the world a better place via philosophy, and are in support of the growing movement to introduce philosophy on the pre-college level. Our mission at ISF is to build entirely new schools based on philosophy, so that the principles of clear thinking play a tangible role in the lives of students and faculty alike. Every faculty member and administrator hired through ISF will have formal training in philosophy, and every subject of study will be infused with rigorous philosophical inquiry.

We are currently in the developmental stages of our project. With our end goal of opening brick and mortar schools, our present goal is to lay down the foundation of what these schools will entail. • the 86th Annual Meeting of the American Philosophical Association Pacific Division, April 4 – 7, 2012, Westin Seattle: Group Session for Committee on Pre-College Instruction in Philosophy, titled “Starting a Philosophical High School”
• the 2nd Annual Graduate Student Conference in Ethics: Pre-College Philosophy, May 5 – 6, 2012, San Diego State University, with tentative theme: “Pre-College Philosophy: the philosopher’s duty to see the pre-college philosophy movement succeed, and the importance and feasibility of creating our own K-12 schools based on philosophy”
